Super Tuesday, Indeed!

What a day.

Per the Washington Post this morning:

For the Democrats-

Hillary picked up 582 delegates / 8 states
Obama picked up 562 delegates / 13 states

New Mexico is still, apparently, too close to call (Obama 49%/Clinton 48% with 92% of precincts reporting at ‘press time.’)

The overall totals are:
Hillary = 845 delegates / 12 states
Obama = 765 delegates / 15 states
2025 needed for the nomination.

Obama absolutely crushed Hillary in Idaho with 80% of the vote. In other states, suck as Georgia and Colorado, he won with greater than 30 percent more of the vote. Hillary’s margins were not nearly as good anywhere but Arkansas.

On the other side of things…

McCain picked up 511 delegates / 9 states
Romney picked up 176 delegates / 7 states
Huckabee picked up 147 / 5 states

The overall totals are:
McCain = 613 delegates / 12 states
Romney = 269 delegates / 11 states
Huckabee = 190 delegates / 6 states
1191 needed for the nomination

Interesting note, Huckabee owned the Southeast yesterday but is showing poorly, overall. Add to that McCain’s strong, second place showing in each of those states and you have a recipe for one less candidate in the soup. I wonder how long he’ll last.

Lastly, here’s a good read about delegate assignment and the race going forward for both parties:

Neither horse race is over, yet.

Get Yer Vote On!

Yes, it’s Super Tuesday, people. If you live in a state that is holding a Primary Election today, please vote. Some folks don’t take Primary season seriously but, now is your chance to determine who will be on your ballot in November. Click here for a list of all of the primaries today.

Today’s primaries will determine the largest number of delegates ever for a ‘Super Tuesday‘ so, get out there and be a part of it!

Yesterday, candidates hustled about the country to scrape up votes and one event, in particular, caught my attention: Deadheads For Obama.

Last night, three of the four remaining members of The Grateful Dead; Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bob Weir; got together with members of Lesh’s touring band and played a benefit for the Obama campaign. Continue reading

Use The Force

yoda

Sitting here in my recliner, wine glass at hand and television off, I cast about for my universal remote only to find that it sat across the room; three feet beyond my reach. Stretching out with my mind, I could feel the remote flying across the room and into my hand but, upon opening my eyes, the stupid thing hadn’t budged.

After more that twenty-five-freakin-years of rigorous (and not-so-rigorous) training, I still have yet to even begin to harness the force. Forget about mastering it; I’d be happy if the damned clicker simply fell onto the floor.

Sigh.

So, now you are acquainted with one of the great disappointments in my life.

Big News

I’m going to break form today and get personal so, watch out! If you know me well, I’ve probably already told you this and, if I haven’t, I’m sorry. Keep reading for the full scoop.

We’re having a baby!

First Picture

Above is the first sonogram picture, taken Oct. 3, 2007 at nearly 10 weeks.

Now, if you are good with math and calendars, you know that we’re due on May 1. We’re crazy excited and so are our girls and extended family. A couple months later (December 7), we went to a doctor with a better machine for some more pictures. Here are a couple more shots:

12-7 Profile

12-7 another look

This, we knew, would be our chance to find out the gender of our child. Last time, we didn’t find out early and the anticipation nearly killed me. This time, Amy still didn’t want to know. After much pleading on my part, however, she relented.
