Scott Amendola Band

The two things I learned at Bonnaroo this year are that I love the Scott Amendola Band and that Nels Cline is one of my favorite guitarists. This happened during a late night set in the Blue Note sponsored Somethin’ Else tent. The tent was tricked out like a dark jazz club with large round tables and air conditioning and table service for your beverage needs. (I know a/c and waitresses don’t sound special but, remember this was at a massive 4-day outdoor festival. This was practically luxurious.)

So this band features Scott Amendola on drums (he’s played with a ton of folks from Nora Jones to Charlie Hunter to Phil Lesh to Pat Martino) and John Shifflett on bass. Both were amazing.

The mesmerizing Jenny Scheinman on violin. (I sat directly in front of her so, she dominated my perspective as you can see below.)

And, of course, the previously mentioned Nels Cline. This guy just blows me away in his work with Wilco, Scott Amendola Band and his own solo projects.

Anyway, today I found this video clip of the show. Check it out below. If you really like it, you can grab the whole thing on bt.etree.
